New Obsessions

It's no surprise that I'm a big girl who likes big meals! Volume eating to me is just the easiest way to lose weight. I constantly feel full, I feel like I enjoy my food longer and it's a great way to pack tons of nutrients into my meals. I could have ONE slice of pizza, or I could have an ENTIRE skillet of food.

Get that pizza outta my face!

(Unless I can magically have multiple slices with way less calories!)

One of my newest obsessions isn't really, NEW, just....remembered. There's nothing fancy about it, there's nothing magical, I just.....remembered it existed and have been eating it almost every day lately.

SQUASH. That's right, SQUASH. There's no squash I've met that I haven't liked. I can cut up and add an ENTIRE yellow squash, that weighs 333g (trust me, cut up, that's A LOT of volume) for only:

63 calories

12.9g of carbs

3.4g of protein

1g of fat.

Not to mention, 3g of fiber!

For what you get, the macros hardly account for it.

I've been adding squash and onions to my eggs in the morning (1 Large Egg, 2 Large Egg Whites, Squash, Onion, Salt, Pepper, Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Paprika and HEB Smoked Gouda Cheese Wedge).

In a skillet meal with my protein and other veggies in the evening (diced chicken breast, taco seasoning, black beans, spanish rice, squash, onion, pictsweet southern skillet corn, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, chili powder and my low fat, protein cheese sauce).

As a side dish for my protein at lunch. On it's own as a snack. So yeah, that's all. Like I said, nothing fancy, just....if you haven't had squash in awhile, you should revisit it again and see how much volume it adds to what you're already eating! Just throw some salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder and paprika on those bad boys and boom. Delicious and SIMPLE.

My other obsession lately has been these little wedge cheeses from HEB. While I love laughing cow, HEB has a bunch of different flavors and they're cheaper than laughing cow. Not by much but every bit helps. Of course at the Kroger I normally go to, they only have a couple of different flavors of the laughing cow. If I go to Albertson's they have ALL the flavors, but they're also REALLY expensive there. At HEB their brand is only $3.11 and go on sale often, where Laughing Cow at other grocery stores usually costs anywhere from $3.50 to even $4.99!

They have: Herb & Garlic, Creamy Swiss, Pepper Jack, White Cheddar, Chipotle Chili and my favorite, Smoked Gouda!

So there you have it. My two new obsessions. Nothing New. Nothing Fancy. Just a thought I wanted to share about a girls love for squash and low calorie cheese!
